You know, that's an interesting question. I never thought too hard about it, but there seems to be a core few main characters that I like and root for, the rest are there, and good characters, but I don't reeeally "like" as much.
I think, though, we should define "like." Because some characters are excellent characters, but I think back to them and think oh that bastard or whatever.
I think this is more a formal question, Thuggish. Do you like stories with one POV character, or 2 - 3 POV characters, or more... not particularly how you feel about the characters themselves, but I see how the wording of the question could lend that interpretation.
Personally, I have no issue with switching to multiple perspectives in a narrative, or sticking with one. Some of my favorite stories are from each of these species. I think that in particular for novels, that have the room to incorporate multiple povs, and elaborate stories that require that sort of multiplicity, I like ambition in the number of perspectives they engage with.

In that case, to me it totally depends on the book.
I will say this, if it's only 1 POV, I seem to prefer first-person. That might be because the single POV third-limited books were crap, not sure.
