We did this on the Cult a while back, and it was a lot of fun. I'll try my luck here.

Use whatever mic you have handy to record yourself reading somenoe else's text. Upload it as an mp3 or whatever you wish and link us here. I recommend Soundcloud.com because it's free, easy and fast.

Use your best reading voice!

I chose one of the great texts of early 20th-century poetry: the Duino Elegies by Rilke. You can hear it right now by going here. I recorded the first part.

Give it a go, and read whatever you wish, as long as you can feel comfortable reading it.

I got lashed for borrowing threads from the Cult. I've heard I have a voice for radio so I'll give this a try.

I recorded some stories the other day to practice reading aloud (something I really haven't done in years,) I fucking suck at it and my reading voice is especially wimpy. But it's crazy that this has come up. I'll post something tonight when I have a bit more free time. Good idea!

You didn't get lashed.  I just think it's redundant to post every single thread they have there over here--especially, if it's just a time-waster.  At least this thread would have some literary merit as it pertains to live reading.

Granted, we started up a lot of threads when this site first opened (many of them stolen from The Cult), but now it's clear that a writing community is emerging.  People are getting published.  You guys are even getting competitive in your writing and starting projects.  I'd just hate to see it compromised by trying to mimic a site that is clearly just a place to procrastinate and waste away the hours.

Granted, but it's not like the chat is busy. Just trying to find more ways to bring to site together. I'll think of something more original next time.
