‘13 Little Blue Envelopes’ Optioned For Film

Great news for fans of social media-savvy young adult author Maureen Johnson. New Line Cinema and Alloy Entertainment are working together to develop a 13 Little Blue Envelopes film.

With the recent success of the film version of Gayle Forman’s If I Stay, it seems New Line Cinema knows their way around a good young adult adaptation. According to Deadline, Elysa Dutton and Les Morgenstein of Alloy Entertainment Features will produce, with Harper Dill (Rachel Getting Married, The Benchwarmers) adapting the book.

The popular young adult novel features loveable protagonist Ginny, who is left thirteen intriguing envelopes after her aunt dies, sending her on a scavenger hunt trip around the world. Each envelope holds new surprises, and along the way she meets a cast of quirky characters who make the trip memorable. The sequel, The Last Little Blue Envelope picks up where the first book leaves off, following Ginny on one last adventure.

13 Little Blue Envelopes is a fun, contemporary novel with a wide range of amazing settings that will translate well to screen, and fans will have a great time speculating over who will play lead characters.

Who do you think should be cast?
