Amazon Launches New Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror Imprint, 47North

Amazon Launches New Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror Imprint 47North

More and more it seems like Amazon is turning the tides of the publishing industry.  This time, it takes the form of 47North, an imprint (technically, their seventh) for sci-fi/fantasy/horror.  The newest Amazon label will launch with an initial fifteen titles available in all major formats: audio, print, and ebook.  The big gun on the rack will be brought to you by Hugo and Nebula-award winning authors Neal Stephenson and Greg Bear, entitled The Mongoliad: Book One.

Amazon’s plan for this newest imprint is to release these initial fifteen titles, then to expand to previously released and out-of-print books of the genre.  Looks like another step towards being a full-fledge publishing house, as per the plan of Laurence Kirshbaum, who is spearheading the endeavor.  Time will tell if Amazon has what it takes to stick it to the likes of the big six.

they also added in Thomas & Mercer which is for crime, noir, thrillers, etc.

and i believe they said that if you submit to one imprint, they'll consider your novel for all. so maybe you aren't sure if you're horror or thriller, no worries, just send it off and they'll deal with it.

cool, huh?
