Harry Potter novels finally available in eBook

via Galleycat

If you've been dreaming of revisiting the Harry Potter series on your Kindle so you don't have to lug around those massive books, today is your day! The mega-popular series is finally available in digital reading formats.

The books are for sale through Pottermore. Even the buy links in the Amazon and Barnes & Noble stores send you there, where you'll have to create a separate account. The books are available in ePub format, as well as .mobi, which is used by Amazon. Here's a huge guide to compatibility, if you're into that type of thing.

The first three books in the series are available for $7.99. The final four--all of them the approximate size of encyclopedias--are $9.99 each.

Anyone plan on re-buying the eBooks? Will this spur anyone to read them for the first time?

I would be shocked if anyone doesn't have them already. I know a few people who are trying to get rid of a majority of their print collection in favor of e-books, so I could see them buying them. I really only buy things on Kindle that are cheaper than they would be in print. It is basically my little public domain library with a few other things thrown in. I can't imagine buying them at this point. Too many other books I haven't read yet.

I might get them just to see what all the fuss is about, but I've never picked them up before.

I planned to read them, but never did because after buying my kindle I generally stick to ebooks. Now, I will probably pick them up, even though I've seen all the films.
