Penguin Random House Puts Books on Trains

Amtrak is launching a digital content platform for Acela Express train passengers, and Penguin Random House has added free excerpts from a number of bestselling titles to the catalog, reports Digital Book World.
The platform will allow passengers to peruse the excerpts, and if they decide they want to read on they will have the option of purchasing the full book from a variety of retailers. This type of setup isn’t unheard of; last November HarperCollins created a similar partnership with JetBlue.
Titles offered will include but are not limited to Gray Mountain by John Grisham, The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg, The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, Believer by David Axelrod, Ruby by Cynthia Bond, Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling, and Wild by Cheryl Strayed. The catalog will also feature Penguin Random House audiobooks, and the titles being offered will change across time.
I don’t know about you, but this development sure makes me want to take the train!
