YA Novels Featuring Mulder and Scully Releasing January 2017
X-Files fans who have always wondered how Mulder became a believer in the paranormal and where his sidekick Scully’s roots as a skeptic come from don’t have to wait much longer to confirm.
In an exclusive announcement from Entertainment Weekly, we have learned that Imprint/Macmillan Children’s group has acquired two new Young Adult novels set in the spring of 1979 introducing the beloved X-Files characters as teens on the path to becoming FBI agents.
The X-Files Origins series will be published simultaneously in January 2017. The first book, Agent of Chaos, written by No. 1 New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia (Beautiful Creatures), features 17-year-old Mulder’s story. The second book, Devil’s Advocate, will be written by bestselling horror novelist Jonathan Maberry (Rot & Ruin), and will feature 15-year old Scully’s story. According to the announcement, both books are set in a time when stories about government conspiracies and the occult were very much in the news.
With Mulder and Scully’s history safely in two competent bestselling novelist’s hands, die-hard X-Files fans can be sure that these origin stories will answer questions long asked of the series.
